A face can set me imagining a whole life. Some people look straight into the lens; another face is obscured by smoke. What I want to know may not be written in that gaze, even as I begin to place the person before me inside a story I can understand.
Crowds, streets, sand and a riverbank become a path between the photographs. This is my arrangement. At the end, a figure holding a camera appears in divided glass, framed in turn. The path bends back towards the person trying to give it a direction.
